In the streets of Tokyo, we bring you a taste of everyday life in Turkey.
Turkish Cafe & Bar Doğal is inspired by Meyhane—a traditional Turkish tavern culture that is still rare to find in Japan. A meyhane is a place where food, drinks, and conversation come together.
Not just a restaurant. Not just a bar.
We value the simple, everyday moments found in Turkish taverns—unhurried time spent sharing homemade dishes and a drink in a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. Here in Ebaramachi, we offer that same sense of comfort and the spirit of Turkish tavern culture.
About the Food & the Name “Doğal”
Our food is rooted in the home cooking that Turkish people eat in their everyday lives. We do not adjust flavors to suit local tastes, nor do we soften or reinterpret dishes. What matters most to us is preserving the flavors exactly as they are in Turkey.
The name Doğal means “natural” in Turkish.
We cook without relying on chemical seasonings or preservatives, using carefully selected ingredients such as pure, sun-dried sea salt from the Aegean and natural rock salt. Everything is prepared from scratch, with care and attention.
Because the flavors are clean and well-balanced, our food pairs naturally with drinks and can be enjoyed comfortably until the very last bite. These are the everyday flavors of Turkey—simple, nourishing, and honest. And they are flavors we are committed to protecting.

The Heart of a Meyhane — Meze
At the heart of every meyhane are meze—small shared dishes meant to be enjoyed slowly, alongside drinks and conversation. In a traditional Turkish tavern, many different meze are laid out at once: vegetables, legumes, fish, eggs—each dish prepared simply, letting the ingredients speak for themselves.
The meze pictured here, made with roasted eggplant, herbs, and yogurt, is just one example.
While our kitchen is small and intimate, we prepare a rotating selection of meze each day—ranging from beloved staples to dishes rarely seen in Japan. Each one is made with care, focusing on balance and the natural flavors of the ingredients.
With a glass of rakı or Turkish wine in hand, take your time and enjoy the meze that are only available that day.

Köfte — The Measure of a Good Kitchen
“If a place makes good köfte, everything else will be good too.” This is the belief of our chef, Mete.
Köfte—Turkish-style meat patties—are deceptively simple. There’s nowhere to hide. The quality of the meat, the seasoning, and the technique all reveal themselves in every bite. That is why, since the day we opened, we have put the most care into our köfte.
Turkey has countless regional styles of köfte. At Doğal, we regularly serve three varieties—something still rare in Japan. Our classics include İnegöl, loved for its clean, straightforward flavor, alongside Tekirdağ and Kasap, each with its own character shaped by spice blends and cooking methods. From time to time, regional köfte not listed on the menu may also appear.
Each köfte is served with our house-made Pilav, prepared in the Tokat style from the Black Sea region, where the chef grew up. We cook Niigata-grown Koshihikari rice together with coarse bulgur, chickpeas, grass-fed butter, extra virgin olive oil, and sun-dried sea salt from the Aegean—slowly, in a pot.
The result is a deeply satisfying plate: köfte rich with umami, paired with fragrant, buttery rice. A dish that has remained at the heart of Doğal, and one our guests continue to return to.

Mete’s Chef’s Plate
A single plate that lets you experience the world of a Turkish Meyhane, even when dining alone. From the day’s meze and warm dishes, Chef Mete selects what he feels you should taste today, and brings them together on one plate.
Perfect for those who want to try a little of everything, or for anyone unsure where to begin. This plate captures the outline of Doğal’s flavors and the atmosphere of a meyhane in one satisfying serving—thoughtful, balanced, and deeply comforting.

Mete’s Special
“Today, this is what I want to cook.”
Mete’s Special is born from the chef’s impulse of the day—dishes made simply because this is what feels right to cook now. The photo shows Kavurma Kuru Fasulye, a comforting combination of slow-cooked beef and white beans in tomato sauce. It’s an everyday home dish in Turkey, yet something rarely found in Japan.
Mete’s Special is never listed on the menu. What appears depends on the ingredients, the season, and Mete’s inspiration that day. Over time, we’ve served dishes from many regions of Turkey, including Tire Köfte, Sivas Köfte, Hünkar Beğendi, Tantuni, Et Sote, Tavuklu Patlıcan Kebabı, Abant Kebabı, Karaköy Dürüm, Balık Ekmek, Etli Nohut Yemeği, and more.
Mete’s Special is not available every day, and it is never the same twice. When it’s ready, it’s written on the chalkboard or shared on Instagram. Some dishes are available in very limited quantities and announced only in the restaurant.
This sense of chance is part of the joy of a meyhane. Feel free to ask, “Is there a special today?”

All-Day Dining · From 11:30
At Doğal, there is no separate “lunch menu.” We don’t divide the day into lunch and dinner. From 11:30 onward, we serve the same menu, at the same pace, all day long.
In Turkey, many taverns operate this way. Food and drink aren’t bound by the clock—they’re enjoyed when the moment feels right. Doğal follows that same philosophy.
Whether you feel like a midday drink, a late lunch, or a proper meal in the evening—and even if it’s evening, if what you’re having feels like lunch to you, then that’s lunch.
Come when you like. Eat how you like. Stay as long as it feels right.
Doğal is a small meyhane where you can enjoy both food and drink. Daytime drinks, late lunches, and traditional sweets such as baklava and künefe—along with Turkish coffee and tea—are always welcome.
