[About the work]

This round small plate is a one-of-a-kind item that is carefully handcrafted one by one using the traditional Çini technique of ceramic decoration in Niksar, Tokat Province, northeastern Turkey. It is a work by the brand NATTO TÜLAY (Niksar Çini), which supports employment for local women and preserves the Çini culture. In addition to traditional Turkish patterns, it also incorporates motifs from the Tokat region's "Baskı" woodblock prints, giving it a unique character that is unique to Niksar.

All the pieces are hand-painted, and even the same design may have slight differences in the brush strokes and coloring. The delicate patterns and vivid colors give this dish a warmth and depth that can only be achieved through handwork.

About Natto Tülay

"Çini" is a traditional pottery decoration culture that has been cultivated in Niksar, northeastern Turkey.

[NATTO TÜLAY (Niksar Çini)] is a brand launched in 2014 by former teacher Tülay Atila. It started as a small workshop in the garden of Niksar, where her family has lived for generations, and has now grown into a 3,000m2 workshop with about 80 female artisans. The brand has been highly praised for its efforts to support women's employment while passing on traditional Turkish techniques to the next generation.

Many of his works incorporate woodblock motifs from the Tokat region (Basque) and original colors, and are characterized by their delicate brushwork and beautiful colors. In recent years, he has also been very particular about materials, such as producing his own clay in-house, and there is depth to the texture when touched and the harmony with the painting.

Now, it is loved in countries around the world, including the United States, Germany, Greece, and the United Kingdom, and is even exhibited at the New York Gift Fair.
